Murray's Boat - Low Tide
$1,000.00Price
We stopped here on our way to Stonington, Maine. We stayed six days. Several locals stopped and politely talked, watched and some became friends. A nearby widow showed us her beloved camp and we exchanged cards for years. Two stray kittens also joined us and before the week was out, Debbie had arranged a home for both (big smiles on the new young mothers faces). One day two women pulled up in a pickup truck carrying kayaks which they were about to launch. Debbie mentioned that kayaking looks like fun. She was invited to go, did, and the rideless lady stayed ashore and watched me paint frequently mentioning Murray who owned the small sloop. The next day another couple stopped. It soon became evident that the man was Murray Barbour, the owner, an about-to-retire postal worker. He invited me to use his boat whenever I wished. I didnt, but it was nice and tempting. Even though we were from away, the Mainers accepted two traveling vagabond painters and made us feel at home. This painting attempts to capture the mood of the bay, tides and a respected way of life.
